Building Workflows

A workflow is a repeatable pattern of activity, built in the Workflow Designer that will interact with entries in a Laserfiche repository. Workflows are built using activities.

To build a new workflow
- Select the new workflow button from the toolbar to open a new Designer Pane. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+N.
- To provide a custom name and description for a workflow, replace the default name and description in the Properties Pane.
- Add an activity to your workflow by dragging it from the Toolbox Pane and dropping it in the Designer Pane.
- Click an activity in the Designer Pane to configure it in the Properties Pane. Most activities will display an exclamation icon until they are properly configured. Workflows containing exclamation icons cannot be published.
- Add and configure additional activities if desired.
- Publish the workflow.
- Assign the workflow a starting rule.
Note: A workflow must be published and assigned a starting rule before it becomes operational.
